Role Overview

Sickware Studios is looking for a Marketing / Community Director to lead the public-facing growth of Project Pryizm, a third-person sci-fi action shooter set in a dark, AI-controlled prison universe.

This role will focus on building awareness, managing the game’s online presence, growing the community, planning marketing campaigns, organizing playtests, and helping shape how players discover and connect with the game.

The ideal candidate understands gaming communities, social media, content strategy, indie game marketing, and how to build excitement around a project before and after launch.


Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and manage the marketing strategy for Project Pryizm.
  • Create campaign plans for announcements, trailers, playtests, beta tests, and launch milestones.
  • Identify target audiences and recommend the best platforms to reach them.
  • Help define the game’s public messaging, tone, and brand identity.
  • Track marketing performance and adjust strategy based on results.
  • Research competitors, genre trends, and audience expectations.

Community Management

  • Build and manage the Project Pryizm community across platforms such as Discord, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, Steam, and other relevant channels.
  • Engage with players, fans, testers, creators, and potential supporters.
  • Moderate community spaces or help organize moderation guidelines.
  • Collect community feedback and summarize useful insights for the development team.
  • Help maintain a positive, active, and professional community culture.
  • Organize community events, Q&A sessions, polls, contests, and playtest announcements.

Social Media & Content

  • Plan and manage social media content calendars.
  • Write posts, captions, announcements, patch notes, and community updates.
  • Coordinate gameplay clips, screenshots, behind-the-scenes content, devlogs, and teaser material.
  • Work with artists, designers, and developers to turn development progress into marketable content.
  • Identify content opportunities that can help Project Pryizm grow organically.
  • Maintain a consistent posting schedule across platforms.

Playtests & Beta Campaigns

  • Help organize closed alpha, closed beta, open beta, and public playtest campaigns.
  • Recruit testers and manage playtest sign-ups.
  • Communicate playtest rules, schedules, expectations, and feedback forms.
  • Help analyze community feedback and player reactions.
  • Assist with post-playtest reports and recommendations.

Creator & Press Outreach

  • Build relationships with streamers, YouTubers, gaming communities, journalists, and influencers.
  • Create outreach lists and manage communication with potential media partners.
  • Help prepare press kits, creator kits, screenshots, trailers, fact sheets, and game descriptions.
  • Coordinate opportunities for previews, interviews, gameplay showcases, and coverage.
  • Track press and creator responses.

Brand & Public Communication

  • Ensure Sickware Studios and Project Pryizm maintain a clear, professional, and exciting public image.
  • Help shape the voice of the studio across community posts, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Support Kickstarter, Steam page, trailer, and launch marketing efforts if needed.
  • Assist with crisis communication or sensitive community issues when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Experience with game marketing, community management, social media, or content strategy.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Understanding of gaming communities and online player behavior.
  • Ability to create clear, engaging announcements and promotional content.
  • Familiarity with Discord, Steam, YouTube, TikTok, X/Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to organize campaigns, schedules, and content plans.
  • Comfortable working with a small indie team.
  • Strong professionalism when speaking on behalf of a studio or game project.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience marketing indie games or early-access games.
  • Experience growing a Discord or online gaming community.
  • Familiarity with Steam store pages, wishlists, capsules, events, and Next Fest.
  • Experience with Kickstarter or crowdfunding campaigns.
  • Basic graphic design, video editing, or trailer coordination experience.
  • Experience working with streamers, influencers, or press.
  • Understanding of analytics, engagement metrics, conversion rates, and wishlist growth.
  • Knowledge of sci-fi, shooters, roguelikes, MMOs, or PvP communities.
  • Experience planning beta tests, surveys, or community feedback reports.
